All about the Minions

Dude #2 turned 10 and he loves the Despicable Me movies so a theme for his party was soon found.
I made sweet Minion birthday cakes, angry minion cupcakes, decorated cookies with edible minion prints and of course the M&M's and skittles were sorted in matching colors.

1/2 birthday

Half birthdays are celebrated in our house, sometimes I'm lazy, sometimes I bake a cake. Today it was the latter, happy 1/2 bday dude !

Stroopwafel cupcakes with cinnamon frosting

Dude #2 didn't want to treat his classmates to evil minion cupcakes at school, no he wanted something different.

So he went through my cookbooks, pinterest board and found stroopwafel cupcakes with cinnamon frosting.

They were very tasty, everyone loved them and looked cute too, good choice !

Bake Sale at school

Whenever there is a fair at one of the dude's schools I make cakepops for them to sell, reason I do this is because there are always plenty of ladies making cupcakes and there's always an overload of those.

Doh ... A Simpsons Party

When boys get to the teenager age, there comes a time when kiddie parties are no longer appreciated. Good thing I can still go all out on the big grown up party .... Dude #1 loves the Simpsons so that was his theme for his 12th birthday bash.

We served cakepops brownies, oreo's, choc chip cookies, brownies, mini donuts, M&M's, hamburger candy, red licorice.

As you can see the top cake (I alway smake 2 layers) was donutshaped and that posed for some decorating challenges with the marzipan. But I rocked the bottom layer though !

Pushpops sans the pushpop

What do you do if you were not as prepared as you though for a schooltreat ? You improvise ....

Dude #1 took these to school for a birthday treat, everyone loved them and nobody knew these had to be in pushops rather than this naked version ....

I treated my colleagues to some mini cakepops at a meeting, they loved them, I call them my onebite version cakepops.

Vintage tea party

This year I hosted a vintage tea party for my birthday

I can't believe I don't have more pics to share of this lovely theme .... I made brownies, champagne glasses filled with fruit and cream, lemon and fudge bars, apple pie, egg muffins, red velvet cupcakes and little tartlets filled with white chocolate mousse and berries.

Freezing cakepops

Did you know you can freeze cakepops ? Before dipping them in candymelts that is.

The good thing about the freezing part is that whenever you have a get together with friends and want to bring something you can; thaw, dip and treat your hosts to some yummy cakepops.

Angry Birds party

Dude #2 turned 9 and he loves the angry birds game so that was the theme for this birthday party.

Besides a birthday cake, pig cakepops, licourice and matching M&M's we served savoury foods as he loves tomatoes, mini salami's and cucumber.

Push Pops

Push Pops have to be the easiest treats for kids to share in school ever ! You can choose to make the cake & frosting yourself or be really lazy (read racing against time like any working mom).
Then just cut the cake, add frosting and sprinkles, fill the pushpop and repeat till you're done.

Dude #2 changed schools for the last 2 years so this was his goodbye treat for his classmates.

My all time favourite brownies

My all time favorite brownies (so far) come from the Hummingbird bakery book,

I'm not into chewy brownies but more the cakelike version and these fit the bill and are even better the day after ...

They also have a chocolate glaze recipy that i put extra mascarpone into and always double because it freezes and thaws like a dream (ready to serve from the ziploc) !

It's served up next to my dear friends green tea cupcakes (from the same book) that were also delicious, cupcakes and brownies make every creative get together more fun !

My mom's High Tea Party

My mother liked my birthday high tea so much she wanted one too on her birthday. She made did all the shopping and made all the savoury food,  I concentrated on the sweet things & decorating. Some of  my favorite things to do ....

Movie Party

Dude #1 turned 11 and celebrated this with a true hollywood movie party.
I loved this theme and it shows in the decorations, some theme's are so easy to pull off !

X-mas cakepops

I've made several kinds of cakepops for christmas this year, the boys wanted to take some to the school christmas dinner and we had some on christmas day. The cupcake pops were my first attempt ever and can you believe they were harder to make than the trees and the reindeers ?

 

Klaasbrokken

We make this recipe every year around Sinterklaas it's a big hit with big and small every since I first made it, loads of calories but so worth it.



The recipe is not mine but I will share my fave blog with you that has a recipe and lot's of great pics for the how to.

My girly birthday party

This year for my birthday I didn't only serve high tea like sweets but just everything I love, theme was pink of course and I had to go all out on decorations and baking ....
